Louies Flower scores in Remington Springboard Mile Stakes

Wesley Melcher’s Louies Flower stalked the pace in the $250,000 Remington Springboard Mile Stakes on Saturday, then fought relentlessly down the stretch and prevailed by a neck. It’s the first stakes victory for the 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Flower Alley, sold for $25,000 by Shadybrook Farm (Michael Yates), Agent, at the 2012 OBS August Sale. His third straight win leaves him with a 5-3-1-0 record and earnings of $190,083.

Silverton Hill LLC’s Simmstown racked up his first stakes win in Saturday’s $75,000 Kenny Noe Jr. Handicap at Calder, taking command on the turn and easing away to a 1-1/4 length victory, with fellow OBS graduate Imperial Czar (October ’08) checking in third. It’s the third win in six starts this year for the 5-year-old son of Limehouse, now 15-4-1-3 with $145,640 in earnings. He was sold for $155,000 by Stephens Thoroughbreds, Agent for Audley Farm, at the 2010 OBS March Sale.  watch his under tack work
