Bajan Scores in Santa Anita’s Anoakia Stakes

Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Ronald Frankel and Jerry Frankel’s Bajan rallied on the turn, took the lead a furlong from home and cruised to a 2-1/4 length victory in the $75, 020 Anoakia Stakes at Santa Anita on Sunday. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old Speightstown filly, now 4-2-1-0 with earnings of $99,150. Pewter Stable, Robert P. Levy and Alex Karkenny’s Winchill posted his first stakes victory Saturday in the $75,000 First Responder Stakes at Parx Racing, taking command at the top of the stretch and scoring by three quarters of a length. A two time OBS graduate, he went through the ring at the 2010 March Sale before bringing $45,000 when sold by Blue River Bloodstock, Agent, at the June Sale. Miller Racing LLC’s E B Ryder found the Calder turf course to her liking on Saturday, coming from well off the pace, taking the lead at the sixteenth pole and drawing away to win the $63,800 Frances A. Genter Stakes by a length and a half. Her first stakes win leaves the 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Bluegrass Cat 13-4-3-1 with $155,290 in earnings. She was consigned by Casse Sales, Agent, to the 2012 OBS April Sale. watch her under tack video
