Alpha Bettor defends title in Woodbine’s Seagram Cup

Bulldog Racing’s Alpha Bettor successfully defended his title in Woodbine’s $159, 343 Seagram Cup Stakes (G3), rallying in the final furlong and scoring by three quarters of a length. It’s the second graded stakes win in three starts this year for the 5-year-old horse by Alphabet Soup, now 23-7-4-2 with earnings of $545,571. Bluestone Thoroughbreds LLC’s Black Diamond Cat captured his second stakes win of the year on Saturday at Gulfstream, taking command of the $115,000 Housebuster Stakes a furlong from home and drawing off to a 2-1/4 length victory. That’s four stakes wins for the 6-year-old Florida-bred Wildcat Heir gelding, now 49-8-11-5 with $402,454 in earnings. The two time OBS graduate was sold first by Kaizen Sales at the 2008 January Sale before being consigned by Marion Bloodstock, Agent, to the 2008 August Sale.

Jay F. Young’s Brooklyn Cowboy picked up his first stakes win on Saturday at Mountaineer, taking the $100,000 West Virginia Legislature Chairman’s Cup Stakes by a length and a quarter. It’s the third win in seven starts this year for the 5-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Pomeroy, sold for $43,000 by Eisaman Equine, Agent, at the 2010 OBS April Sale. Trilogy Stable and Laurie Plesa’s unbeaten Yes I’m Lucky is three for three with two stakes wins after his 1-3/4 length victory in Sunday’s $59,200 Tyro Stakes at Monmouth Park. The 2-year-old colt by Yes It’s True, sold for $105,000 by Eisaman Equine, Agent, at the 2013 March Sale, has earned $93,000 to date. watch his under tack video

John Carver, Jerry Hollendorfer and Green Smith’s Outside Nashville blew past the leaders three wide at the top of the stretch in Saturday’s $57,600 Robert Dupret Derby at Santa Rosa then ran away to a 4-1/2 length victory. It’s the second stakes score for the 3-year-old colt by Broken Vow, sold for $115,000 by Eisaman Equine, Agent, at the 2012 OBS March Sale. My Purple Haze Stable’s Talk Therapy tried stakes company for the first time in Saturday’s $50,000 Genesee Valley Breeders’ Stakes at Finger Lakes and proved best by a length and a half. His first stakes scores leaves the 7-year-old gelding by Freud 25-7-8-1 with earnings of $243,294. He’s a two time OBS graduate, sold first by Riverview Farm, Agent, at the 2007 August Sale before being purchased for $80,000 out of the Mayberry Farm consignment at the 2008 April Sale. watch his under tack video

Mark DeDomenico LLC and North American Thoroughbred Horse Company’s lightly raced Saturday Nite Ride scored her first stakes win at Northlands Park on Friday with a two length wire to wire win in the $50,000 Madamoiselle Handicap. It’s the third win this year for the 4-year-old daughter of Flower Alley, sold for $50,000 by Eisaman Equine, Agent, at the 2011 OBS April Sale.
