Eight OBS grads post weekend stakes wins

Patsy C. Symons’ Effie Trinket sat just off the lead in Belmont’s $100,000 Diamondrella Stakes on Sunday, took over with a furlong to go and scored by a length and quarter, running seven furlongs on the turf in a sprightly 1:21 1/5. It’s the second stakes win for the 3-year-old daughter of Freud, sold for $105,000 by Everett Livestock at the 2012 OBS April Sale. Jason DaCosta’s Silver Cloud fought his way to the front in deep stretch of Calder’s $100,000 Bob Umphrey Turf Sprint Stakes on Saturday, then held off a late charge to win by a head. It’s the first stakes win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Rahy, now 23-7-5-1 with earnings of $241,622. He was sold for $34,000 by Nick de Meric, Agent, at the 2010 OBS April Sale. watch his under tack video

RJM Stables LLC’s Sweet Little Lion posted her first stakes victory on Saturday at Calder, getting the lead in the final furlong then holding on to win the $100,000 Hollywood Wildcat Stakes by a neck. Consigned by Casse Sales LLC, Agent, to the 2009 OBS August Sale, the 5-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Red Bullet is now 15-4-2-4 and has earned $135,230.

Robert Abbo Racing Stables LLC’s Immortal Eyes gave his rivals no chance in Sunday’s $76,500 Mr. Prospector Stakes at Monmouth, running a half in :44 4/5 then opening up in the stretch and romping to a 7-1/4 length victory with fellow OBS graduate Diski Dance (April ’10) checking in third. It’s the third win in six starts this year for the 8-year-old Florida-bred son of Greatness and with ten stakes wins to his credit, his record stands at 44-15-12-4 with $805,051 in earnings. A three time veteran of the OBS sales ring, he was first sold at the 2006 Winter Mixed Sale then resold at the 2006 August Yearling Sale. Then, consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent, to the 2007 February Sale, he brought $220,000.  watch his under tack video

Harlingten, Lorill, Klein, Alan Phillip and Philip Lebherz’s Skydreamin is two for two with two stakes wins after charging from just off the pace and drawing off to a 5-1/2 length victory in Sunday’s $59,000 Everett Nevin Stakes at Pleasanton. Winner of the Lost in the Fog Stakes at Golden Gate in his debut on June 15th, the 2-year-old colt by Sky Mesa, sold for $80,000 by Imagine at the 2013 OBS March Sale, has earned $63,450 to date. watch his under tack video

John C. Oxley’s Sky Commander picked up his first stakes victory via disqualification in Saturday’s $122,727 Charlie Barley Stakes at Woodbine. It’s the third straight win for the 3-year-old colt by Sky Mesa, consigned by Casse Sales, Agent, to the 2012 OBS April Sale. He’s now 11-4-1-1 and has earned $189,836.  watch his under tack video

Nicholas Abate and Darlene Peterson’s Mischievous Mama picked up her first stakes win on Saturday night at Evangeline Downs, going to the front and never looking back en route to an eight length victory in the $100,000 Louisiana Legends Mile Fillies Stakes. Three for six this year, the 3-year-old filly by Into Mischief is now 8-3-1-1 and has earned $121,530. She was sold for $50,000 by Robert Brewer, Agent, at the 2012 OBS April Sale.  watch her under tack video

Klaravich Stables Inc. & William H. Lawrence’s Populist Politics circled the field four wide on the far turn, hit the front in midstretch and won Saturday night’s $100,000 Louisiana Legends Classic Stakes at Evangeline Downs by half a length. That’s five stakes wins for the 5-year-old graded stakes placed horse by Don’t Get Mad, sold for $70,000 by M & H Training and Sales, Agent, at the 2010 OBS April Sale. The win gives him a 25-8-6-5 record and earnings of $551,416.  watch his under tack video
