Hip No. 860, a youngster by Run Away and Hide consigned by Old South Farm, Agent, sped an eighth in :9 3/5, the fastest work at the distance at the third session of the Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2013 Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. The bay colt is out of Regal Bird, by Grand Slam, a half sister to graded stakes placed Ghost Ring.

 

Five horses worked eighths in :9 4/5. Hip No. 611 is a dark bay or brown filly by City Zip consigned by Eddie Woods, Agent. She’s out of stakes placed Lizzie Toon, by Dixieland Band, and is a half sister to graded stakes winner Willyo’theValley. Hip No. 618, consigned by Harris Training Center LLC, Agent, is a chestnut colt by Officer out of stakes placed Loramateal, by Storm Creek. Harris also consigned Hip No. 808, a son of Afleet Alex. The dark bay or brown colt is out of Pretty Pretty, by Silver Deputy, a daughter of graded stakes winner Careless Heiress. Hip No. 685 is a daughter of Old Fashioned consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent. The dark bay or brown filly, a half sister to stakes winner Mr. Candy Bar, is out of stakes placed Miss Puzzle (AUS), by Citidancer (IRE). Hip No. 700, Vestibule, is also consigned by de Meric Sales. The chestnut colt by Graeme Hall is out of Moonshot, by Grand Slam, a half sister to graded stakes winner Cat by the Tale.

Hip No. 890, Thank You Daddy, a daughter of Hear No Evil consigned by Blue River Bloodstock, Agent, worked the session’s fastest quarter, stopping the timer in :20 2/5. The bay filly is out of Saint Sammi, by Saint Ballado, a full sister to graded stakes winner Flame Thrower.

Two horses worked quarters in :20 3/5. Hip No 613, a son of In Summation consigned by Azpurua Stables, Agent, is a dark bay or brown colt out of Load Up, by Dove Hunt, and a half brother to graded stakes placed St. Joe.  Hip No. 807, Ramona’s Wildcat, a dark bay or brown Wildcat Heir filly consigned by Indian Prairie Ranch, Agent, is out of Pretty Indian, by Indian Charlie, a half sister to stakes winner Color of Smoke.

There were three quarters in :20 4/5. Hip No. 679 is a son of Belgravia consigned by Blas Perez Stables, Agent. The chestnut colt is out of Miss Fear Factor, by Siphon (BRZ), a daughter of graded stakes placed Puddlejump. Blas Perez also consigns Hip No. 753, a dark bay or brown filly by With Distinction out of Optime’, by Yes It’s True, a half  sister to stakes winner The Nutz. Hip No. 839 is a chestnut colt by Langfuhr, consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent. He’s out of stakes winner Radiant Avie, by Lord Avie.

The dark bay or brown colt is out of Margarita Miss, by Skip Away, a half sister to graded stakes placed Cordoba. Hip No. 722, by After Market, is consigned by Off the Hook LLC, Agent. The dark bay or brown filly, out of Naga, by Strawberry Road (AUS), is a half sister to stakes winner Trail This. Hip No. 748, D’ Razorcat, is a bay colt by D’wildcat consigned by Welcome Gate Farm, Agent. He’s out of One in the Chamber, by Red Bullet, a half sister to stakes winner She’ll Heir. Hip No. 772 is a son of Ready’s Image consigned by W.D. North Thoroughbreds LLC, Agent. The dark bay or brown colt is out of Peaceful Journey, by Behrens.

Trio of fillies fastest at second Under Tack session

Three fillies worked eighths in :9 4/5, the fastest works at the distance at the second session of the Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2013 Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training.

Hip No. 344 is a daughter of El Corredor consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent. The bay filly is out of Faire La Bise, by Kissin Kris, a half sister to graded stakes placed Littlebitofzip. Hip No. 440, consigned by McKathan Bros., Agent, is a chestnut filly by Cowtown Cat out of stakes placed Goodbye Beautiful, by Goodbye Doeny. Hip No. 594 is a bay filly by Wildcat Heir consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent. Out of Leah’s Angel, by CallerI.D., she’s a half sister to graded stakes winner Expect an Angel.

Three horses shared honors for the day’s fastest quarter, each stopping the timer in :20 4/5. Hip No. 392, It’s a Lie, is a daughter of Yes It’s True consigned by Indian Prairie Ranch, Agent. The dark bay or brown filly is out of For Scarlett, by Red Ransom, and is a half sister to stakes placed Samurai Slam. Hip No. 492, consigned by Top Line Sales LLC, Agent, is a son of RockportHarbor. The gray or roan colt is out of stakes winner Hummel, by Jeblar. Hip No. 519, I See Back, is a son of Put It Back out of I See Gold, by Sejm. Consigned by Blue River Bloodstock, Agent, the bay colt is a full brother to stakes placed Back to Gold.

Hip No. 411, a son of Graeme Hall consigned by Thoroughbred Friends and Associates, Agent, worked a quarter in :21 flat. The bay colt is out of Gentle Wave, by Mt. Livermore, a half sister to graded stakes winner Recommended List.

A pair of horses tied for the session’s fastest three eighths, both stopping the timer in :33 3/5. Hip No. 402, consigned by Boutte Sales, Agent, is a chestnut colt by Wiseman’s Ferry out of stakes winner Frozen Dinner, by Formal Dinner, and is a half brother to stakes winner Sneak a Cold Treat.

Hip No. 252, a City Zip filly consigned by Old South Farm, Agent, sped an eighth in :9 3/5 to post the fastest work at the distance at the first session of the Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2013 Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training. The chestnut filly, out of Danse Kongo, by Petionville, is a half sister to stakes placed Copy My Swagger. The clocking equals the fastest eighth ever worked over the OBS Safetrack surface.

Hip No. 4, a bay colt by Wildcat Heir consigned by de Meric Sales, Agent, worked the same distance in :9 4/5. He’s out of stakes winner Additional Prayer, by Songandaprayer. 

Hip No. 221, a Concorde’s Tune filly consigned by All Dreams Equine, Agent, worked the day’s fastest three eighths, getting the distance in :33 2/5. The bay filly, out of Co Rate, by Copelan, is a half sister to stakes placed Stryker.

Three youngsters shared honors for the session’s fastest quarter, each stopping the timer in :20 4/5. Hip No. 5 is Flat Jack, by Flatter, consigned by Ocala Stud, Agent. The dark bay or brown colt, a half brother to stakes placed Ready and Tough, is out of Adena’s Girl, by Personal  Flag. Hip No 155, Wonderfella, is a Harlan’s Holiday colt consigned by Southern Chase Farm, Inc. (Greg and Karen Dodd), Agent for Webb Carroll. The bay is out of graded stakes placed Carleaville, by Carson City.  Southern Chase also consigned Hip No. 227, a dark bay or brown colt by Street Boss out of Credential, by Valid Appeal, a half sister to stakes winner Table the Motion.

Hip No. 300, a bay colt by Henny Hughes consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, worked his quarter in :21 flat. Out of stakes placed Dressed for Success, by Tricky Mister, he’s a half brother to graded stakes placed Switch to the Lead.

Spring Sale Under Tack Show begins Tuesday

The Under Tack Show for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2013 Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training is set to begin Tuesday, April 16th, and continue through Friday, April 19th.  All four session will begin at 8:00 a.m.

Hip No.’s 1-300 (selling Monday, April 22nd) will breeze on Tuesday, Hip No.’s 301-600 (selling April 23rd)  go to the track Wednesday; Hip No’s 601-900 (selling April 24th) breeze Friday, and Hip No’s 901-1195 (selling April 25th) will breeze on Friday.

The Spring Sale is scheduled for Monday, April 22nd through Thursday, April 25th with each session beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Since the beginning of 2012, OBS Spring Sale graduates have scored in 109 stakes races, including 34 graded stakes, and won two division championships.

After Dennis O’Neill plucked I’ll Have Another out of the Eisaman Equine consignment on behalf of J. Paul Reddam at the 2011 Spring Sale, his Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness (G1) wins propelled him to the Eclipse Award as 2012’s champion 3-year-old male.

The same sale produced Sherry Parboo’s Trinniberg, sold by M & H Training and Sales, Agent. He won four graded stakes at three, and his Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) victory clinched the Eclipse Award as 2012’s champion male sprinter, a year after 2010 April Sale graduate Musical Romance was honored as champion female sprinter. 

Graduates of last year’s Spring Sale have won 36 stakes races to date, headed by Karl Watson, Mike Pegram & Paul Weitman’s sale topper Executiveprivilege.  The daughter of First Samurai, with three graded stakes wins to her credit including the Del Mar Debutante (G1) and Chandelier Stakes (G1), was sold by Eddie Woods, Agent for $650,000.

The 2012 sale also produced Del Mar Futurity (G1) winner Rolling Fog, Saratoga Special (G2) winner Spurious Precision and Risen Star Stakes winner (G2) Ive Struck a Nerve.

Spring Sale graduates Next Question, Turbo Compressor, Turbulent Descent and Unbridled Command also won grade one stakes in 2012.

The Under Tack Show will be streamed live via the OBS website at obssales.com and via the Blood-Horse and Daily Racing Form websites. The workouts will also be recorded and videos will be available on the website, in their entirety or by individual hip number. They will also be available for viewing in the video room adjacent to the Horsemen’s Lounge in the sales pavilion as well as several kiosks in the lobby and the covered walking ring. In-room viewing is available at The Courtyard by Marriott, Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn & Suites, Residence Inn and the Ocala Hilton, plus lounge viewing is available at the Hilton. Under Tack Show results are posted on the OBS website.

2012’s OBS Spring Sale grade one winners

Nine OBS Spring Sale graduates won grade one stakes races in 2012, highlighted by Eclipse Award winning campaigns by 2011 graduates I’ll Have Another and Trinniberg

J. Paul Reddam’s I’ll Have Another earned his Eclipse Award on the strength of victories in the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Preakness (G1). He’s the third OBS two-year-old graduate voted champion 3-year-old male, joining Skip Away and Silver Charm. Undefeated in 2012 with four graded stakes wins, the son of Flower Alley was sold for $35,000 by Eisaman Equine, Agent, on behalf of Victor Davila at the 2011 OBS April Sale after working an eighth in :10 2/5. Retired on the morning of the Belmont Stakes, he ended his racing career with earnings of $2,693,600 and is now standing at stud in Japan at Big Red Farm.  Watch and listen as I’ll Have Another breezes and sells at the 2011 OBS April Sale

Sherry Parbhoo’s Trinniberg is the fourth OBS juvenile graduate to win the Eclipse Award as champion sprinter, joining Cherokee Run, Lost in the Fog and Midnight Lute. He won three graded stakes in 2012, ending the year with a victory in the $1,363,500 Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1). He sped an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show before selling for $21,000 by M & H Training and Sales, Agent, at the 2011 OBS April Sale. Pinnacle Racing Stables and trainer Bill Kaplan’s champion Musical Romance, winner of Calder’s Princess Rooney (G1) in April, retired from racing a multiple stakes winner of $1,682,855. The daughter of Concorde’s Tune won the Eclipse Award as 2011’s champion Female Sprinter. After  breezing a quarter in :21 flat, she was sold for $22,000 by breeder Ocala Stud at the 2009 OBS April Sale. Upon retirement, she brought $1.6-million as a broodmare prospect. watch her under tack video

P and G Stables and Off the Hook Racing’s Turbo Compressor won Monmouth’s $505,000 United Nations Stakes (G1) in July, cruising by a length and three quarters. He ended 2012 with a 17-7-2-2 record and earnings of $953,960. The son of Halo’s Image, who zipped an eighth in :10 flat prior to the sale, was sold for $22,000 by breeder Bridlewood Farm at the 2010 OBS April Sale. watch his under tack video

Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith’s Turbulent Descent won the Ballerina Stakes (G1) at Saratoga in August. The multiple graded stakes winning daughter of Congrats completed her career with four grade one wins including Saratoga’s prestigious Test Stakes (G1) and earnings of $1,211,640. After working a quarter in :20 4/5, she was sold for $160,000 by breeder Ocala Stud at the 2010 OBS April Sale. watch her under tack video

Karl Watson, Mike Pegram & Paul Weitman’s Eclipse Award finalist Executiveprivilege won four graded races in 2012, including the Del Mar Debutante (G1) and Chandelier Stakes (G1). The 2012 OBS April Sale topper, who worked a quarter in :21 flat at the Under Tack Show, was sold by Eddie Woods, Agent for $650,000. She ended her 2-year-old campaign with five wins in seven starts and earnings of $940,000. watch her under tack video

 

 

Arnold Zetcher’s Rolling Fog was two for two in 2012, winning the $300,000 Del Mar Futurity (G1) in his second trip to the post. The colt by Posse was purchased for $62,000 out of the Classic Bloodstock (Danzel Brendemuehl) consignment at the 2012 April Sale after an eighth in :10 1/5 at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Three Diamonds Farm’s Next Question achieved grade one status in 2012 with a victory in the $501,200 Nearctic Stakes (G1) at Woodbine. The lightly raced gelding by Stormy Atlantic, consigned by Leprechaun Racing, Agent, to the 2010 OBS April Sale, is now 8-3-1-1 with earnings of $403,013. His eighth in :9 4/5 was co-fastest at the distance at the Under Tack Show. watch his under tack video

Lakland Farm’s Unbridled Command, who breezed a leisurely quarter in :22 3/5 at the Under Tack Show, ended his 3-year-old year with a big run from well back to win the $250,000 Hollywood Derby (G1). It was his fifth straight win and second graded stakes score, and left him with a 10-6-1-2 record and $469,040 in earnings. Rose to Gold leads OBS sweep of Oaklawn’s Fantasy Stakes

Kathleen Amaya and Raffaele Centofani’s Rose to Gold led an OBS sweep of Oaklawn Park’s $400, 000 Fantasy Stakes (G3) on Wednesday, taking the lead at the break and splashing to a 4-1/2 length victory. Manuka Honey and Marathon Lady, both sold at last year’s Spring Sale, were second and third. It’s the third graded stakes win for the 3-year-old daughter of Friends Lake, now 7-5-1-0 with earnings of $717,889. She was consigned by Karrington Stables, Agent, to the 2011 OBS August Sale. 

Goldencents wins the Santa Anita Derby

Trainer Doug O’Neill is on his way to the Kentucky Derby (G1) with an OBS graduate for the second straight year. W.C. Racing, Dave Kenney and RAP Racing’s Goldencents turned back a late charge by Flashback to win the $750,000 Santa Anita Derby (G1) by a length and a quarter, with fellow OBS graduate Super Ninety Nine (June ’12) settling for third. Like O’Neill’s 2012 Derby and Preakness winner I’ll Have Another (April ’11), Goldencents was purchased by the trainer’s brother Dennis, who plucked the colt by Into Mischief out of the Southern Chase Farm (Greg and Karen Dodd) consignment at the 2012 OBS June Sale for $62,000. The newest OBS millionaire, Goldencents is now 6-4-1-0 and has earned $1,250,000. watch his under tack video

Jack Milton, Scarlet Strike score in graded stakes

Gary Barber’s Jack Milton made his stakes debut in Friday’s $100, 000 Transylvania Stakes (G3) at Keeneland, took the lead a furlong from home and held off a late charge by Up With the Birds to win by a neck. Consigned by Eddie Woods to the 2012 OBS March Sale, the 3-year-old colt by War Front has two wins and a second in three trips to the post and has earned $93,900 to date. watch his under tack video

 

 

John Carver, Jerry Hollendorfer & Green Smith’s Scarlet Strike rallied from well off the pace in Saturday’s $150,000  Providencia Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita, hit the front in deep stretch and scored by half a length, with fellow OBS graduate Sweet Red Cat (June ’12) checking in third. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old daughter of Smart Strike, now 10-2-3-5 with earnings of $332,340. She was sold by Casse Sales, Agent, at the 2012 OBS March Sale. watch her under tack video

Rosa Stephany Taveras’ Sr. Quisqueyano got the best of fellow OBS graduate Speak Logistics (April ’12) in Saturday’s $250,000 Calder Derby, opening up turning for home and drawing off to a 7-1/2 length victory. That’s two stakes wins for the 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Exclusive Quality, now 10-4-4-0 with $319,950 in earnings. He was sold for $5,500 by Thoroughstock, Agent, at the 2011 OBS Winter Mixed Sale.

Jim and Nanette McCullough’s unbeaten Wild About Chrome is five for five and a stakes winner after a one length victory over fellow OBS graduate Sneaking Uponyou (April ’08) in the $75,000 Hilton Garden/Hampton Inn Suites Sprint Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. The 4-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Indian Ocean, sold for $30,000 by breeder Bridlewood Farm at the 2010 OBS August Sale, has earned $83,790 to date. 

Lone Stable LLC’s Boy of Summer stepped into stakes company for the first time in Tampa’s $75,000 Journeyman Stud Sophomore Turf Stakes, came between horses at the eighth pole and hung on to win by a head. The 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Exclusive Quality is a two-time OBS graduate, sold at the 2011 August Yearling Sale before being purchased for $32,000 out of the Blue River Bloodstock consignment at the 2012 April Sale. He’s now 9-3-0-1 and has earned $89,010. watch his under tack video

Pinnacle Racing Stables and Bill Kaplan’s Putitinmypocket, overlooked at 26-1, circled the field on the turn before drawing off in deep stretch to a two length victory in the $75,000 Stonehedge Farm South Sophomore Fillies Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. Fellow OBS graduate Cotton Pickin (April ’12, August ’11) was tihird. It’s the first stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Put It Back, sold first at the 2011 OBS August Sale before being sold for $35,000 by Sescan LLC, Agent, at the 2012 April Sale. Her first stakes win leaves her win a 12-2-4-1 record and $103,352 in earnings. watch her under tack video
