Five OBS grads score Saturday stakes wins

Maggi Moss’ Free World went right to the lead in Charles Town’s $85, 000 Robert Hilton Memorial Stakes and never looked back, rolling to a 6-1/2 length victory. Her first stakes win gives the 3-year-old Stormy Atlantic filly a 6-3-2-0 record with earnings of $104, 840. J and J Stables and GSP Stables’ Jewel of a Cat made the lead after straightening away in the stretch of Pimlico’s $75, 000 Stormy Blues Stakes and drew away from there to win by 2-3/4 lengths over fellow OBS graduate Ek Haseena (August ’11, October ’10). It’s the first stakes score for the 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Wildcat Heir, now 5-3-2-0 with $119, 400 in earnings. She was sold for $40,000 by Bo Hunt, Agent, at the 2012 OBS April Sale. watch her under tack video

STARSHIP TRUFFLES The Musical Romance

Chasing Tails Stables’ Starship Truffles came from just off the pace, took command a furlong from home and eased away to a 1-1/2 length victory in the $50,000 Musical Romance Stakes at Calder. Fellow OBS graduate Bahia Beach (Adena Springs ’10 ) was second. It’s the first stakes win for the 4-year-old Florida-bred filly by Ghostzapper, sold for $22,000 by Nickajack/Rey de Oros at the 2011 OBS June Sale after going through the ring at the April Sale. The win gives her a 21-12-2-2 record and earnings of $224,325. watch her under tack video

David Wolochuk’s Jossy Do It picked up her first stakes win on Saturday at Evangeline Downs, leading all the way en route to a 5-3/4 length score in the $50,000 Hallowed Dreams Stakes. Sold for $12,000 by Ricky Leppala, Agent, at the 2012 OBS April Sale, the 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Proud Accolade is now 10-3-3-1 and has earned $78,800. watch her under tack video

Six Wide Racing LLC’s Candy Bites also scored her first stakes win on Saturday, rallying to win the $50,000 Howard B. Noonan Stakes at Beulah Park by half a length. It’s the second win in six starts this year for the 3-year-old filly by Candy Ride (ARG), sold by Mayberry Farm, Agent, for $21,000 at the 2012 OBS April Sale. She’s now 10-2-0-2 and has earned $50,553 to date. watch her under tack video
