OBS March graduates score in weekend stakes

James and Alice Sapara’s Leinan tried stakes company for the first time in Woodbine’s $150,000 Glorious Song Stakes on Sunday and rallied from off the pace to score by a length, with fellow OBS graduate Mechaya (March ’12) checking in third. Her first stakes win leaves the 2-year-old daughter of Ready’s Image with a 4-2-2-0 record and $143,773 in earnings. She was consigned by Wavertree Stables, Inc. (Ciaran Dunne), Agent, to the 2012 OBS March Sale. watch her under tack video

John Carver, Jerry Hollendorfer and Green Smith’s Outside Nashville jumped into the $55,100 Golden Nugget Stakes at Golden Gate on Saturday straight off a maiden win, but handled the jump in class with ease, drawing away to a 4-1/2 length victory. Sold for $115,000 by Eisaman Equine, Agent, at the 2012 OBS March Sale, the 2-year-old colt by Broken Vow is now 4-2-0-1 and has earned $55,850. watch his under tack video

The March Sale also produced an impressive first timer, as Repole Stables’ Unlimited Budget made a spectacular debut. Although it took until November 9 for her to get to the races, it was well worth the wait. The 2-year-old Florida-bred Street Sense filly took charge of a $67,000 one mile maiden special weight test at Aqueduct after half a mile, then opened up down the lane and scored by 9-1/2 lengths. She brought $475,000 when sold by breeder Ocala Stud at the 2012 OBS March Sale. watch her under tack video
