Stealcase scores in Woodbine’s Ontario Derby

John C. Oxleys’ Stealcase was much the best in Sunday’s $154,500 Ontario Derby (G3) at Woodbine, coming from well off the pace to take charge in deep stretch and pull away to a length and a quarter victory. It’s the first stakes score for the 3-year-old colt by Lawyer Ron, sold first by Carapan Farm, Agent, at the 2010 OBS August Sale before bringing $320,000 when purchased out of the Classic Bloodstock consignment at the 2011 OBS March Sale. The win gives him a 11-3-1-2 record and earnings of $313,619. watch his under tack video

Lanzman Racing Stable, Inc. and Jason Wood’s Bares Tripper took charge of Saturday’s $100,000 Barretts Debutante Stakes at Fairplex on the turn and drew off to an easy 6-1/4 length victory, with fellow OBS graduate Miss Derek (August ’11) checking in third. It’s the first stakes win for the 2-year-old daughter of Sky Mesa, consigned by Wavertree Stables (Cairan Dunne), Agent, to the 2012 OBS April Sale.
