OBS first timers win at Del Mar; Spring at Last filly wows ‘em at Woodbine

A pair of two-year-old OBS graduates, favored in their debuts at Del Mar on Saturday, took different approaches to their first victories, each winning a $70,000 5-1/2 furlong maiden special weight test.

In the fifth race, Eclipse Thoroughbreds Partners’ Capo Bastone had one horse beaten after a quarter, but came outside after turning for home and ran by the rest of the field of nine and was up to win by a neck. The 2-year-old colt by Street Boss was sold for $175,000 by de Meric Sales, Agent, at the 2012 OBS March Sale. watch his under tack video

The 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by Posse is a three-time OBS graduate, going through the ring at the 2010 October and 2011 January Sales before being purchased out of the Classic Bloodstock (Danzel Brendemuehl) consignment at the 2012 April Sale. watch his under tack video
