Jeranimo, Camp Victory score in grade ones at Hollywood

B.J. Wright’s Jeranimo is the newest OBS millionaire after rallying on the outside and getting up in the final yards to win the $300, 000 Shoemaker Mile Stakes (G1) at Betfair Hollywood Park by a length and a quarter. That’s five graded stakes wins for the 6-year-old Florida-bred son of Congaree, sold for $50, 000 by On Course Sales, Agent, at the 2007 OBS August Sale. The win gives him a 28-8-6-4 record and earnings of $1,068,400.

Featherston, Jacobsen & Miller’s Camp Victory sent trainer Mike Mitchell the perfect get well card, rolling past odds-on favorite The Factor in the stretch and winning the $250,000 Triple Bend Handicap (G1) at Befair Hollywood Park by 3-1/4 lengths. Mitchell, who claimed Camp Victory on behalf of his current connections for $40,000 last February, is recovering from surgery to remove a brain tumor on Friday. It’s the second graded stakes win for the 5-year-old gelding by Forest Camp, giving him 23-8-3-2 record and earnings of $517,986. Stronach Stables’ Hunters Bay made it two straight graded stakes wins on Sunday, winning Woodbine’s $204,961 Dominion Day Stakes (G3) by a length, with fellow 2009 Adena Springs Sale graduate Stately Victor checking in third. That’s three wins in four starts this year for the 5-year-old son of Ghostzapper, now 11-6-3-0 with $399,657 in earnings. watch his under tack video

Thomas D. Shank and Stan Young’s Good Lord scored his first stakes win on Saturday at Charles Town, leading all the way en route to a 1-3/4 length victory in the $100,000 Wild and Wonderful Stakes. Fellow OBS graduate Hurricane Ike (August ’08) finished third. It’s the first win in six starts this year for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Greatness, now 40-5-8-10 with earnings of $269,063. He was consigned by Tradewinds Farm, Agent, to the 2009 OBS June Sale. watch his under tack video

Kretz Racing LLC’s John Johny Jak rallied to win the $70,800 Robert K. Kerlan Memorial Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park by 1-3/4 lengths, with fellow OBS graduate Comma to the Top (April ’10, October ’08) finishing third. It’s the third stakes win for the 5-year-old Florida-bred son of Wildcat Heir, consigned by Two Sharp Hats, Agent, to the 2008 OBS August Sale before they sold him for $37,000 at the 2009 April Sale. He’s now 25-9-5-2 and has earned $342,279 to date. watch his under tack video

Robert Abbo Racing Stable LLC’s Immortal Eyes scored by a length and a half in the $70,000 Charles Town Dash Handicap on Saturday, taking the race for the third consecutive year. It’s the second straight stakes win for the 7-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Greatness, now 32-11-8-3 with earnings of $540,982. Sold first by Adena Springs South at the 2006 Winter Mixed Sale then resold by Beth Bayer, Agent, at the 2006 August Yearling Sale, he was ultimately sold for $220,000 by Eddie Woods, Agent, at the 2007 February Sale. watch his under tack video

Luis Duco Stables Inc.’s Empire Builder led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Calder’s $50,000 American Dreamer on Saturday, drawing off to a 4-3/4 length victory over Ravelo’s Boy (August ’10), with Two Is to Many (June ’11) a neck back in third. It’s the second straight stakes win for the 3-year-old Kitten’s Joy colt, giving him a 10-4-1-1 record and $116,495 in earnings.
