Hunter’s Bay wins Woodbine’s Eclipse Stakes

Stronach Stables’ lighty raced Hunter’s Bay tried stakes company for the first time in the $151, 862 Eclipse Stakes (G3) at Woodbine Saturday, and scored his first stakes win by three lengths. The 5-year-old horse by Ghostzapper, now 10-5-3-0 with earnings of $275,736, went through  the ring at the 2009 Adena Springs Sale. under tack link

La Marca Stable’s Compliance Officer got his 2012 campaign off to a flying start, taking Sunday’s $125,000 Kingston Stakes at Belmont Park by three quarters of a length. It’s the fifth stakes score for the 6-year-old gelding by Officer, who brought $65,000 when sold by King’s Equine, Agent, at the 2008 OBS April Sale. Now 25-11-4-2, he has earned $539,566 to date.  under tack link

Frank Calabrese’s graded stakes winner Where’s Sterling scored his second stakes win on Monday at Calder, romping to a 7-1/2 length victory in the $75,000 Memorial Day Handicap. The 5-year-old son of Northern Afleet, now 13-4-5-0 with earnings of $409,665, was sold for $50,000 by Mayberry Farm, Agent, at the 2009 OBS April Sale.  under tack link

RNB Racing LLC’s Shadowbdancing made his fourth straight appearance in Prairie Meadows’ $60,000 Jim Rasmussen Memorial Stakes and won it for the second time after a settling for second in 2010 and third last year. The 2-1/2 length victory, his eleventh stakes win, gives him a 38-14-7-6 record and earnings of $925,147. The 7-year-old Florida-bred son of Montbrook was sold for $200,000 by breeder Ocala Stud at the 2007 OBS February Sale.  under tack link

Jonathan J. Gonzales’ Empire Builder won his first stakes race on Saturday at Calder with a half length victory in the $50,000 Mambo Meister Stakes, with fellow OBS graduate Musical Flair (March ’11) moved up into second via disqualification. It’s the first win in four starts this year for the 3-year-old colt by Kitten’s Joy, now 9-3-1-1 with earnings of $85,805. He was sold for $10,000 by Eddie Woods, Agent, at the 2011 OBS April Sale. under tack link
