Turbo Compressor takes Calder’s Carl G. Rose Classic Handicap

P and G Stables and Off the Hook Racing’s Turbo Compressor took the early lead in Calder’s $150, 000 Carl G. Rose Classic Handicap and kept on going, rolling to his second stakes victory by 10-1/2 lengths. Unraced at two, the 3-year-old Florida-bred colt by Halo’s Image is now 9-4-1-1 and has earned $246,780. He was sold for $22,000 by breeder Bridlewood Farm at the 2010 OBS April Sale.

Maestre Racing Stable’s For Oby scored his first stakes win on Saturday at Calder with a half length win over fellow OBS graduate Rev It Up (April ’11, August ’10) in the $125,000 Jack Price Juvenile Stakes. Consigned by Thoroughstock, Agent, to the 2010 OBS August Sale, the 2-year-old Florida-bred colt by With Distinction is now 5-2-0-1 and has earned $114,712.

Peras International’s Yara led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of Calder’s $125,000 Joe O’Farrell Juvenile Fillies Stakes on Saturday, beating Given Enchantment (April ’11) by 5-1/4 lengths, with Sinner’s Gold (April ’11, August ’10, October ’09) checking in third. Consigned by Brambly Lane Farm to the OBS ’09 October and ’10 January Sales before selling her at 2010 OBS August Sale, she was sold for $24,000 by Nickajack/Rey De Oros, Agent, at the 2011 OBS April Sale. The 2-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Put It Back is now 4-2-0-0 with earnings of $103,920.

Wesley Ward & Ice Wind Stable’s well traveled Italo scored his first stakes win on Saturday, taking Calder’s $100,000 Arthur I. Appleton Juvenile Turf Stakes by three quarters of a length, with fellow OBS graduate Twin (August ’10) another head back in third. Sold for $42,000 by Kaizen Sales, Agent, at the 2010 OBS August Sale, the 2-year-old Florida-bred son of With Distinction is 5-2-0-0 and has earned $86,135 to date.
