Pomeroys Pistol romps in Belmont’s Gallant Bloom

Hardacre Farm LLC’s Pomeroy’s Pistoltracked the pace in Belmont’s $150, 000 Gallant Bloom Handicap (G2) on Saturday, took over at the head of the stretch and drew off to a a four length victory. It’s the third stakes win of the year for the 3-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Pomeroy, now 11-4-3-2 with earnings of $450,178. She was consigned by Summerfield, Agent, to the 2009 OBS August Yearling Sale.

F. Thomas & Matt Conway’s Matthewsburg scored his first stakes victory Saturday, winning the Speightstown Kentucky Cup Sprint Stakes (G3) by 2-1/4 lengths. The 3-year-old colt by Ghostzapper, now 10-3-1-0 with earnings of $123,609, was sold for $95,000 at the 2010 Adena Springs Sale.

MAT Stables LLC’s Royal Currier rolled to a 3-3/4 length victory in Saturday’s $250,000 Gallant Bob Stakes at Parx Racing, running six furlong in a track record 1:07 2/5. It’s the fourth stakes win for the 3-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Red Bullet, now 16-7-4-1 with earnings of $395,850. He was sold for $5,500 at the 2010 Adena Springs Sale.

Priscilla Vaccarezza’s My Due Process led a 1-2-3 OBS sweep of the $122,718 Monmouth Park NATC Futurity (filly division), beating Singlet (April ’11) by 3-1/4 lengths, with Fiftyfour Forever (June ’11, August ’10) another length back in third. It’s the first stakes score for the 2-year-old daughter of Henny Hughes, sold for $30,000 by Jerry Bailey Sales Agency, Agent, at the 2011 OBS March Sale. The win gives her a 6-2-2-0 record and $130,087 in earnings
