Turbulent Descent scores in the Santa Anita Oaks

Blinkers On Racing et al’s Turbulent Descent avenged her only defeat, taking the lead turning for home in Saturday’s $250, 000 Santa Anita Oaks (G1) and holding off Zazu’s late charge to win her second grade one race by a neck. Now 5-4-1-0 with earnings of $528, 350, the 3 -year-old Florida-bred filly by Congrats was sold for $160,000 by breeder Ocala Stud at the 2010 OBS April Sale.

Saul Gevertz, William E. Morey, Roger Newman & Ray Pagano’s Positive Response picked up his second win in three starts this year, romping to a seven length victory in Saturday’s $100,000 John Battaglia Memorial Stakes at Turfway Park, with fellow OBS graduate Son of Posse (April ’10) checking in third. That’s three stakes wins for the 3-year-old Florida-bred gelding by Pomeroy, now 8-5-0-2 with earnings of $223,201. He was sold for $21,000 by W.D. North Thoroughbreds at the 2010 OBS June Sale.

Bobby Flay’s Sensational Slam scored his second stakes victory on Saturday at Aqueduct, edging fellow OBS graduate Diski Dance (April ’10) by three quarters of a length. The 3-year-old colt by Grand Slam was sold by Nick de Meric, Agent, for $240,000 at the 2010 OBS March Sale. He’s now 4-3-0-0 and has earned $211,642,
